Water Plant and Storage tank projects description.

Sangamon Valley Public Water District has begun the planning process for a proposed replacement Water Treatment Plant.  This new water plant will have increased capacity as well as improved treatment capabilities.

Whereas the existing plant has reached its useful life, maximized its capacity and provides softening equipment predominantly, the new plant will incorporate modern treatment technology, iron filtration, improved softening equipment and disinfection process.

The proposed water plant building will incorporate energy efficient lighting and mechanical systems, process water re-use systems, and local building materials and contractors.

In addition to the Water treatment plant, another water storage tank is planned for the District.  This additional tank will increase available finished water supply, add emergency fire storage and boost pressures and flows to the service area west of the Sangamon River.
